Product details

Since the financial crisis, financial innovations have been regarded as a risk to the stability of financial markets; they are therefore at the center of the legal policy discussion on stronger product-related regulation of financial markets. Until now, however, there has been a lack of a jurisprudentially sound, interdisciplinarily informed, and at the same time cross-jurisdictional examination of the phenomenon. This volume is the first to provide an appropriate overview of financial innovation. The contributions in the first part deal with basic legal and financial economic issues, while the second part examines the design of financial innovations from a patent and contract law perspective. The third part outlines possible applications of financial innovations in companies at the intersection of corporate and banking law. The fourth and last part deals with the market-related regulation of financial innovations in the finance and insurance sector.
