Product details
Automated controls are commonly observed in both social and professional environments. Traffic light systems and fully automated manufacturing processes are just two exemplary examples, whose operations are often determined by successive steps. Therefore, they are often referred to as step chains.
GRAFCET is a technology-independent specification language for planning and describing sequential controls. The scope of GRAFCET (GRAphe Fonctionnel de Commande Etapes / Transitions) for representing control functions with steps and transition conditions is defined in the standard EN 60848.
Sequential controls planned with GRAFCET can be implemented using different programming languages such as function block language, structured text, or graphical sequential languages. In Siemens' TIA Portal, the programmer is offered the graphical programming language S7-GRAPH as a PLC sequential language.
In professional training and further education, GRAFCET is gaining increasing importance. In the professions of the metal and electrical industry, such as automation technicians and mechatronics engineers, the processes represented in GRAFCET must be supplemented, modified, and implemented with a PLC program.
This manual "Implementing GRAFCET according to DIN EN 60848 with S7-Graph (TIA Portal)" aims to assist users in implementing a control sequence represented in GRAFCET with an S7-Graph program.
