Hartmann gets tangled up. Private detective Hartmann is extremely annoyed. His buddy Angie has temporarily moved in with him and is throwing one party after another. Just when he needs it, a new case comes up: Düsseldorf's real estate king Lutz Busse has been secretly photographed during a club visit at a risqué bondage event and is now being blackmailed. Hartmann is tasked with finding out who the blackmailer is so that Busse can negotiate with him. The investigation leads him into Düsseldorf's BDSM scene, to extravagant parties, and into secret private clubs. He encounters quick-witted women, frivolous Finns, hard-drinking pop stars, and seemingly innocent wives who are anything but. Romanian computer specialist Alina, "Hooker Heinz," and "Gutter Rita" help Hartmann unravel a case that couldn't be more tangled. When he eventually stumbles upon a dead body during his investigation, it suddenly becomes clear to him that a skillfully knotted rope can easily turn into a deadly noose.
