Female Peace Palace

The "Female Peace Palace" festival, held in Munich in 2023, focused on the courage, visions, and struggles of women in war and resistance. Through theater, literature, discussions, lectures, and podcasts, it created a connection from a visionary historical event during World War I—the International Women's Peace Congress in 1915 in The Hague—to current conflict zones. Trusting in art and theater, the authors, artists, journalists, and scholars sought descriptions for the dilemmas and horrors of war while also addressing the strength from which collective action can emerge. The international festival was an initial invitation to imagine and speak where words and imagination are lacking in the face of war and hatred. The eponymous anthology documents the festival organized by Monacensia and the Munich Kammerspiele and expands it with new contributions.
