Felix oder das Buch der Wunder

Full of sadness and sorrow, a man found himself in a foreign land. This man wept and lamented because there are so few people in this world who love God, serve Him, and praise Him. To help them recognize, love, and serve Him, he wrote this Book of Wonders. With these elegiac words, the Book of Wonders (Llibre de Meravelles) by the Catalan writer and philosopher Ramon Lull begins, which he wrote between 1287 and 1289 in France, where he had traveled to win over Philip the Fair for his missionary project. The Book of Wonders is one of Lull's most significant and at the same time one of his most easily understandable works. For the first time in Europe, philosophical and scientific topics were addressed in the vernacular, Catalan, rather than in Latin. To this day, there is no German translation of it.
