Fathers, Fathering, and Fatherhood

"Fathers, Fathering, and Fatherhood" is a comprehensive collection of narratives based on the experiences of queer Chicano/Mexicano sons. This scholarly work explores the role of fathers, fathering, and the various facets of fatherhood, particularly in the context of queer male sexuality and identity. The contributions highlight the significance of father figures, such as godfathers, grandfathers, and others, who express and nurture love and hope for queer young men within their extended families. The book is divided into six sections and addresses the complexity of relationships between fathers and queer sons, the dynamics within families, the impact of neurodiverse mental health issues, as well as the erotic, insecure, and taboo aspects of desire. Additionally, it discusses encounters with absent, estranged, or emotionally distant fathers and provides a critical analysis of the relationships between fathers and queer sons in Chicano/Latino literature and film.
