The Romans knew no weekend, no Sunday, but many festivals, which were by no means holidays for everyone. Ovid's "Fasti" provides a vivid impression of the Roman calendar: month by month, the author entertainingly explains the origins and religious backgrounds of festivals and holidays. Although this Roman festival calendar unfortunately breaks off in the middle of the year, it is presented here in a new translation with excerpts and is a true treasure for our knowledge of myths, legends, star and weather signs, as well as dates in Roman history.
