Please note that this title mainly consists of content that is freely available on the internet. German is not only a difficult and often incomprehensible language for foreigners. People with disabilities or dementia also struggle with complex sentences, bureaucratic language, and passive constructions. This is why Easy Language was developed, which originally comes from disability work and now even has its own dictionary. Additionally, some federal laws have already been simplified, and more and more political websites are providing information in Easy Language. There are hardly any books in simple German, just a few city guides. However, many people can hardly imagine the Buddenbrooks in a simplified version. Other countries, such as Belgium, Norway, or the Netherlands, are further along and publish newspapers in Easy Language.
