Farm der Tiere

In one of the most famous works of the 20th century, George Orwell tells the story of the animals on Farmer Jones's farm, who collectively rise up against their human master and drive him away. However, after the successful revolution and a brief improvement in their situation, they experience how their new freedom gradually transforms into a totalitarian regime led by the pigs, who consider themselves the intellectually superior elite. Propaganda, redistribution of material goods, and open terror escalate to a point where old and new masters, human and pig, become indistinguishable. The novel, subtitled as a fable, can be read as a bitter anti-Stalinist satire against the backdrop of the history of the Soviet Union. Due to its narrative simplicity, it is also considered a popular school reading.
