Product details

C minor - traditionally the key of drama, passion, pathos, and pain. This is also true for Mozart's highly significant C minor Sonata KV 457. He composed it in October 1784, without us knowing what might have triggered this incredible outburst of "romantic" emotions. Half a year later, Mozart wrote his extraordinary C minor Fantasy KV 475, which is remarkable in every respect. Both C minor works were then published together in 1785, meaning they were intentionally linked by their author, defying convention. The autographs of the C minor Fantasy and Sonata were lost until 1990. Immediately after their discovery in Philadelphia, the G. Henle Verlag undertook the first thorough text revision. Many corrections had to be made to the previously known musical text, as the most important sources up to that point, namely the first edition and an authorized dedication copy of the sonata, proved to be inaccurate and flawed. Even "Urtext" can sometimes be improved.
