Fairy tales in the classroom as an article on values education

Is value education in German lessons possible by working with fairy tales? Are there didactically well-prepared materials on the topic of fairy tales and values for teaching practice in the area of the New Middle School? In this book, fairy tales are analyzed according to their history of origin as well as their stylistic and essential characteristics. The clarification and definition of basic ethical terms as well as the elaboration of the significance of fairy tales for child development serve as a basis for discussion. Special consideration is given to the topics of moral development, promoting resilience and overcoming fear. The didactic suggestions from fairy tale analyses, Portfolio, role plays, plays, philosophizing with fairy tales and different project work are examined for their suitability regarding the value education. It is shown that, taking into account the age of the students, the fairy tales are suitable.
