The present book aims to provide an overview of the fundamental functions of accounting. It is primarily designed as a textbook for students in the business studies programs at the University of Vienna and is aligned with the current curricula. However, it also offers all interested parties the opportunity to quickly familiarize themselves with the extensive subject matter and gain an overview for later in-depth studies. The book does not claim to be a scientific work but rather seeks to present recognized concepts for beginners in a didactically fresh manner. Therefore, a more colloquial style of expression is often used. The citation style, which includes providing all sources in the bibliography and omitting footnotes for better readability, follows the general conventions of a textbook.
