Exit West

In a world that has come undone, in a Muslim-majority country on the brink of civil war, in a city that remains nameless, they meet: Nadia and Saeed. She has broken away from her family, rides a motorcycle, lives secularly, and wears her dark garment only as protection against the advances of strange men. He still lives with his parents, is rather shy, and takes the practice of his religion very seriously. Yet, as the city around them goes up in flames, with attacks increasing and the security situation becoming ever more precarious, the two find each other. They want a shared future, in freedom. And there are these rumors about doors that can take those who pass through them to distant places. However, the way through these doors must be bought with a lot of money. As the violence continues to escalate, Nadia and Saeed decide to take this path.
