Exit-Management in Private Equity

Private equity has gained significant importance in recent years. Although the boom phase seems to have come to an end, private equity firms will continue to have a decisive influence on economic activity with their operations. Birte Sewing analyzes the exit management of large private equity firms based on a qualitative research approach and provides insights into a previously underexplored and hard-to-access field of study through interviews. In detailed case studies, she thoroughly examines the strategy, processes, and underlying structure of exit management in five large international private equity firms. The author identifies two approaches to exit management and places them in the broader context of the development of private equity firms. Finally, she highlights potential trends.
