A novel about the temptation of evil and the courage to resist it. Erik is 14 when no normal school wants to accept him anymore. Even as the son of an abusive father, he is already the fierce leader of a notorious youth gang. His last chance to eventually earn a school diploma is the Stjärnberg boarding school. Stjärnberg is considered prestigious, an elite school. But in reality, it is ruled by the "Council," a clique of sadistic upperclassmen who have turned the torment and humiliation of younger students into an art form. A brutal, fascist regime, and the teachers turn a blind eye. Pierre, the gentle, chubby boy who befriends Erik, has only one option: escape. But Erik will persevere. And as absurd as it may sound, Stjärnberg, the den of evil, will eventually, though not too late, become for him a school of peace. When he leaves the boarding school, he knows that violence will never again play a role in his life. When he realizes this, it feels like liberation.
