Evidence based Nursing and Caring

Evidence-based Nursing and Caring (EBN) is a nursing practice that bases nursing decisions on scientifically validated experiences from third parties (external evidence) as well as the individual needs and experiences of both the care recipients and caregivers (internal evidence). It does so out of respect for the uniqueness of the care recipient and includes the support and promotion of those in need of care as well as concern for them (Caring). Behrens and Langer demonstrate in their successful practical handbook how caregivers can access evidence-based knowledge, assess scientific results, utilize them, and transfer them into practice. They describe methods and procedures, including interpretive-hermeneutic and statistical methods, and show how nursing decisions can be substantiated, justified, and executed. The fifth edition has been revised and expanded regarding the chapters on literature research, the benefits and harms of therapy, aids and improvements through digitalization, and the resolution of the generalization dilemma.
