The commentary on the Gospel of Luke is structured in three volumes. In this second volume, Prof. Dr. Francois Bovon continues his commentary in the style of the first volume, but takes into account to an even greater extent the history of the reception of the Gospel of Luke throughout the centuries of Christian tradition. In the analysis of the individual text sections, particular attention is paid to the theological work of the evangelist: to his processing of the Gospel of Mark and the logia source; this makes the specific theological perspective of the Gospel clear. The chapters Lk 9:51-14:35 address very central pericopes: such as the parables of the banquet (11:37-54), of the mustard seed and of the leaven (13:18-21), the Lord's Prayer and the teachings on prayer (11:1-13), the new order of the beatitudes (11:27-28), and the search for Christian wisdom.
