About the work
The commentary continues the tradition of the "Benkard" on the Patent Act and explains and elaborates on the independent development of the case law of the Boards of Appeal of the EPO and its examination practice. While the parallel work to the Patent Act is primarily oriented towards the case law of the X. Senate of the Federal Court of Justice, the present commentary sets out the official practice of the examining and opposition divisions and explains the independent development of the case law of the boards of appeal.

About the new edition
In addition to a large number of recent decisions, the new edition takes into account in particular the new Guidelines for Examination in the European Patent Office as well as questions relating to the European patent with unitary effect (EPeW) and the Unified Patent Court (UPC).
