European Nature Photographer of the Year

More than 900 photographers and over 18,000 images – figures that impressively demonstrate the appreciation the "European Nature Photographer of the Year" competition has gained among the best nature photographers on the continent in recent years. Since the year 2000, the GDT (Society for Nature Photography) has awarded unique and innovative nature photographs from the cameras of European professional and amateur photographers in this competition. Year after year, the diversity of subjects, the always surprising perspectives, and the outstanding artistic execution of the awarded photos leave a lasting impression. The competition encompasses eight categories – from mammals to landscapes, as well as the themes "Nature Atelier" and "Human and Nature" – reflecting the vast spectrum of modern nature photography.

Fritz Pölking Award

For the fifteenth time, the Fritz Pölking Award and the Fritz Pölking Young Talent Award 2023 were also presented as part of the competition in recognition of the contributions of the renowned photographer. Together with Tecklenborg Verlag, each year a project or portfolio is honored that focuses not on individual images, but on the implementation of a specific nature photography theme – a special challenge for photographers, which this year's winners have met in an outstanding manner.
