Summary:
The Frankfurt Auschwitz trial has become a piece of contemporary history. Some of those who operated the most efficient death machine stood trial in Frankfurt. The trial reports by Bernd Naumann depict the judicial efforts to not hold a reckoning of Germany's past, but rather to comply solely with the law in light of proven guilt. The author presents the course of the trial as reflected in the testimonies of witnesses and defendants. The consequences that lie outside of criminal law are left for the reader to draw.
