Product details
2019 is a significant constitutional year in Germany - marking 100 years since the Weimar Constitution, 70 years of the Basic Law, and 170 years since the Paulskirche Constitution. This collection of constitutional texts provides access to the dual foundation on which today's supranational multi-level state stands: the first focus is on German constitutions from the 19th and 20th centuries, which are typically used in courses on constitutional history. Additionally, for the first time in a study edition, a selection of other constitutional texts that have shaped constitutional modernity in Europe is included. This encompasses particularly important constitutions of European states as well as intergovernmental treaties. The range extends from the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen in France in 1789 to the European Convention on Human Rights and the Treaty of Rome from 1957, as well as the 2+4 Treaty from 1990. The collection is supplemented in the appendix by the Constitution of the USA and important texts from the English legal tradition. All documents are printed in their (translated) original version. The new edition has been thoroughly reviewed and selectively expanded. Different conditions apply for libraries regarding this title; please contact the sales department.
