The teaching and workbooks 'Wegweiser Deutsch' are modern, action-oriented, and competency-promoting educational materials for the subject of German in vocational schools in Saarland for levels I and II.

The focus is on promoting action and competencies. Students are to be empowered to prove themselves in specific communication situations. To achieve this, they should purposefully apply the competencies acquired in subject lessons. Therefore, a close connection to the respective professional context in the subjects of BFS I and II must be established.

For level I (BFS I), the content focus is on the following topics:

• Managing basic communication situations
• Preparing an application for an apprenticeship
• Handling communication situations typical for training and profession.

The chapters include QR codes at selected points to integrate explanatory notes and promote media literacy. The available materials have a clear connection to the students' reality. Through images, song lyrics, and film contributions, the texts are supplemented with additional information to achieve a broader understanding of the content. Tasks are differentiated by difficulty level and aim to encourage critical questioning of issues, allowing students to form and express their own opinions. The defined operators for the subject of German are applied in the task assignments.
