Eugen Thierstein Fotograf

Eugen Thierstein (1919-2010) worked as an independent photographer with his own studio in Bern from the early 1940s until the mid-1960s. He trained under the eminent photographer Hans Steiner and then attended the photography school in Vevey. His main business was reportage for magazines and newspapers and wedding photography. The special thing about Eugen Thierstein's photographs is his eye for the seemingly inconspicuous and the human: He photographed celebrities, politicians and models and documented work in factories, in agriculture or in handicraft businesses as well as the socially disadvantaged, women and children. The estate of Eugen Thierstein is in the Burgerbibliothek Bern.
