Product details

Imagine a small booklet in the format of a passport – that officially designed burgundy pseudo-linen-covered thing with all the visas and stamps from our travels. But instead of pages for all the entry and exit stamps, it contains 27 sheets, each featuring one or two poems on the themes: "Border, Passport, Visa, Foreign, Nation, Neighboring Country." Even more: the poems come from each of the 27 EU countries, poetically transcending borders – in short: a poetry passport spanning all of Europe (that is, the officially recognized current Europe of the EU). The passport is the noblest part of a person. This is how Bertolt Brecht wrote, inspired by the wonderful invention of a document that identifies people as members of states, but precisely because of that guarantees the inviolability of free movement and personality – because this passport is sovereign property, it cannot be arbitrarily confiscated abroad, and its bearer cannot be willfully detained.
