"Studies of Upwelling in the Campeche Bank" is a technical book that focuses on the analysis of hydrographic data and the investigation of nutrients, chlorophyll a, and surface temperatures of the sea. The study is based on high-resolution radar measurements and covers a region of approximately 400 km along the northern coast of the Yucatán Peninsula, as well as 60 km offshore. The book describes the upward movement of subtropical underwater (SUW) from a depth of 200 m, which extends along the narrow and steep continental shelf at Cabo Catoche and flows into the Campeche Bank. These cooler water masses, with temperatures of 22°C, promote nutrient enrichment in the coastal waters, as evidenced by high concentrations of chlorophyll a. The seasonal intensity of upwelling is also discussed, with the strongest occurrences happening in May and lasting up to five months. The book provides valuable insights into the marine ecosystems and their dynamics in this important region.
