Where do the roots of the desire to be slim and to find oneself attractive in this way lie? Is it primarily the influence of images in the media that contributes to women feeling inferior and fighting against their own bodies? Physical attractiveness is definitely at the forefront of the media in today's world. As a result, one's body becomes an individual symbol of status and attractiveness, and unfortunately, this often leads to eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia. In this study, the author presents the current obsession with thinness and the factors that lead to vomiting or starvation. She also examines the eating disorders anorexia and bulimia nervosa from the perspective of sociocultural influences, with a particular focus on the eating disorder anorexia athletica.
