Erz, Wismut oder Uran?

Since 1989/90, much has been published about the previously secretive activities of AG/SDAG Wismut. This includes reports on operational history, technical and technological issues, and geological topics. Many contemporaries have also written their personal memories of the Wismut era in books and brochures. On the other hand, historians from an external perspective have attempted to examine the subject. However, one aspect has mostly been only superficially addressed and has not yet been thoroughly investigated: how DDR publications informed about the uranium mining of Wismut. How did DDR citizens know more about the activities of SDAG Wismut? Was it really just word of mouth, or were there publications? The author approaches this politically and morally controversial subject without condescending pessimism or nostalgic embellishment. His aim is to provide a rational assessment of the facts in their historical context.
