Erwin Kecsek

A career between East and West is not really unusual. But Erwin Kecsek's is. Born and raised as a Danube Swabian of German descent in Timisoara, the capital of the Banat, he also received his first artistic impulses there. His interest in theatre and dance in particular was awakened. Professional academic dance training in Cluj-Napoca, dance diploma and A-levels, finally returning to the state opera in his home town. Ambition and talent soon enabled him to embark on a career as a soloist. And it was here, as the youngest ballet master in the country, that his pedagogical talent began to emerge. Unusually, the man of German origin was awarded a scholarship to Gret Palucca in Dresden and to the Vaganova Academy in Leningrad. He continued his career as a dancer and choreographer in Germany and abroad without a break in his development. As a director, his tongue-in-cheek humour is appreciated. Such a talent must pass on its knowledge. He ended his professional life as a professor at the Mannheim Academy of Dance.
