Erwerbsarbeit und Unterhaltswirtschaft

The basis of this publication is a comprehensive empirical study on the interactions between the employment and maintenance sector or on the compatibility of gainful work/occupation and household/family. The book provides an overview of the historical development, current status and future trends in the relationship between gainful employment and the maintenance sector. The life contexts of private households are depicted by means of objective background factors of the households, subjective preferences and attitudes of the heads of households and a time budget allocation of the household members covering all activities, differentiated in each case according to gainful employment and maintenance sector. The database is based on a representative sample of households in the Federal Republic of Germany. The working and living situation of different household and life-cycle types is shown below.
