According to estimates, 10% of adults will experience a heel spur at least once in their lives. Initially, it is often unclear whether the sudden pain is directly caused by a heel spur or rather by plantar fasciitis, an inflammation of the tendon plate on the sole of the foot. The author herself has had to endure this extremely painful experience. For Ricarda Rapp, an enthusiastic athlete, passive measures such as complete rest and medication were not an option. During her illness, she researched and experimented extensively and now wants to share her experiences with others affected. With her self-designed training program, she was able to manage her problems within a few weeks and even ran her first marathon pain-free after two years.
