Ernst Neufert Peter Neufert
German, Johannes Kister, Nicole Delmes, Lilian Pfaff, 2014Product details
Ernst Neufert (1900-1986) and his son Peter Neufert (1925-1999) significantly influenced construction in Germany in the 20th century through their numerous designs, which included residential buildings as well as industrial and commercial structures. Ernst Neufert's long-standing teaching position at the Technical University of Darmstadt and his still-relevant standard publication "Bauentwurfslehre" were particularly impactful. Both father and son represent modernity and the reconstruction efforts following World War II with their buildings. For example, Ernst Neufert developed the strictly functionalist distribution center for Quelle in Nuremberg. The new technical possibilities of prestressed concrete allowed Peter Neufert to experiment with bold forms, which clearly distinguished his buildings from those of his father in the late 1960s. This volume documents the current state of six buildings through large-format photographs.
