Erinnern, vergessen, umdeuten?

The first women's movement initiated important steps towards emancipation and equality in Europe at the end of the 19th and early 20th centuries. However, its goals, actions, and achievements did not remain anchored in cultural memory. When the second women's movement made its voice heard on political stages in the 1970s, it largely viewed itself as a new movement without predecessors. The contributions of this volume examine the images of their own history that European women's movements developed or neglected, as well as the losses of tradition caused by the dictatorships of the 20th century.
