More than 60 years after the end of Nazi terror, the authors of this volume not only attempt to summarize the existing culture of remembrance and commemoration. Rather, they highlight the challenges and new paths for future remembrance work and forms of commemoration for a time beyond eyewitness accounts and ritualized events. This volume includes the controversial contributions from a joint conference of the Academy of the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart, the Protestant Academy Bad Boll, and the association 'Against Forgetting - For Democracy e.V.'. It brings together scholarly reflections, practical examples, biographical experiences, and socio-political considerations in light of an increasing historicization and reevaluation of the Nazi era.
