Erich Heckel - Werkverzeichnis der Ölgemälde

Since Paul Vogt published the catalog of paintings by Erich Heckel, created in collaboration with the artist, more than four decades have passed during which ownership has changed, lost and presumed destroyed paintings have re-emerged, unknown works have been discovered, and overpainted backsides have been uncovered. Research on Expressionism in general and on Heckel's work in particular has also made significant progress. This has resulted not only in some new datings of the paintings but also in new questions and interpretative approaches. The two-volume catalog, which, like the previous one, also includes Heckel's murals and sculptures, comprises more than 1,100 entries (compared to 1,046 in Vogt's catalog), each accompanied by exhibition, literature, and provenance details. Whenever possible, all works are illustrated in color. Texts are provided for individual phases of life.
