Product details
The 15th century is the era of the last mass conversions to Christianity on the Iberian Peninsula. Under intense pressure and partly through violence, the previously large Jewish population was compelled to be baptized. Nevertheless, large segments of the Christian majority did not accept the new converts as equals and questioned their orthodoxy. Clergy and scholars repeatedly addressed this discrimination with sermons, letters, and treatises. This study provides a detailed account of the essential contents of their theology for the first time, their specific interpretation of the Bible, and its roots in the law and tradition of the Latin Church.
