Companies and organizations that emerge stronger from a crisis and generally manage crises well are referred to as resilient. But what must be done to tackle unexpected and existentially threatening challenges and even turn them into a positive change? This book provides concrete answers to this question in the business context. It begins by discussing and integrating existing theoretical approaches to the concept of resilience and resilience management. Based on this foundation, 14 industries and their situations before and during the Corona crisis are analyzed and examined through 36 case studies. This reveals what has helped or been lacking in these industries to successfully navigate the current Corona crisis. A surprisingly clear picture emerges regarding approaches and factors that will be helpful across all industries in future shock events. In summary, the insights gained lead to the development of the Rapperswil Resilience Model, a framework for strengthening resilience in organizations and companies, complete with concrete recommendations for strategic and operational management.
