Fernando Pessoa signed his poems with his own name throughout his life. He placed himself within his system of diversity, thereby solidifying his maxim of being "not just a single poet." In the concert of his heteronyms Alberto Caeiro, Ricardo Reis, and Álvaro de Campos, the orthonymous, the true Pessoa, is an enriching voice. The intelligent selection by Inés Koebel aims to present this diversity and beauty for the first time in German. The interplay between very personal, occasionally sober poems and the humorous as well as critical, even grotesque political verses is surprising, revealing him as an attentive observer of his time. The first text dates from 1911, while the last, written 11 days before his death, is from 1935. A Pessoa is to be discovered that we have previously missed, expanding our view of his uniqueness.
