The author explores the relationship between the unconscious and faith by rediscovering the pertinence, profundity, and effectiveness of the existential thought of the Roman-Jewish poet Benjamin Fondane. In times when barbarism seeks to impose an idolatrous and miserable God on humanity, the author takes a new approach to the question of faith, which, according to her, cannot be separated from the question of the unconscious and evil. This is done through a critique of Freud's book, "The Future of an Illusion," and the often reductive approach to this question by psychoanalysts. His rediscovery of the effectiveness of existential thinking allows for a profound and subjective displacement of this question.
