Entmietet und verdrängt

For all those who live in a tenancy, it can suddenly happen very quickly: a letter from the property management containing a notice of termination due to structural densification and upgrading. Tenants are forced to move out because of demolition or redevelopment, or even to leave the neighbourhood in order to find affordable housing. The authors provide a multi-layered insight into this reality through a qualitative study conducted in the Swiss Mittelland. The focus is on the perspectives of those affected and how they deal with the (imminent) loss of housing. The experience of direct displacement provides important information for housing policy and social work initiatives.
