Empfehlungen des Arbeitskreises "Baugruben" (EAB)

With the release of the recommendations, which have a standards-like character, the Working Group on Excavations of the German Society for Geotechnics e.V. (DGGT) supports planning practice in the design and calculation of excavation enclosures. All recommendations have been thoroughly reviewed compared to the previous 5th edition, revised as necessary, and adapted to new findings. The empirical values for skin friction and end bearing of sheet piles and soldier piles have been significantly changed. The chapter on excavations in soft soils has been considerably streamlined. In response to an urgent need in practice, a completely new chapter on underpinning as excavation support has also been developed. The recommendations of the Working Group on Excavations aim to assist in: - Facilitating the design and calculation of excavation enclosures, - Standardizing load assumptions and calculation methods, - Ensuring the stability of excavation structures and their individual components, and - Improving the cost-effectiveness of excavation constructions.
