Emotions tell us what is really important for us. We experience feelings such as joy, fear and sadness in everyday life and "recognize" emotions in other people. Psychological research has been dealing with emotions for over 100 years. Today we have a large repertoire of methods for triggering emotions and measuring them. Psychological and neurobiological explanatory approaches provide answers to the question of how emotions arise. Conversely, emotions influence our thinking and our behaviour. The textbook deals with central questions of emotion research in a comprehensible form. It is based on classical theories and studies as well as current research.
