Emotionale Intelligenz und soziales Funktionsniveau bei bipolaren Störungen

Irén Lehner-Adam is conducting an empirical study to determine whether and how "emotional intelligence" in bipolar patients is related to disease characteristics. To this end, the development of "Emotional Intelligence" in manic-depressive patients and healthy control persons was compared. This study also examines whether the current affective state of the currently stable patient group influences "Emotional Intelligence" and the level of social functioning. Patients with bipolar disorder are affected by the loss of qualitative social relationships and also by the lack of ability to process emotions. Patients experience this limitation as particularly stressful in the case of social ties. This is why discrimination occurs, for example, at the workplace and in the health care system or in the search for suitable housing.
