Emotionale Intelligenz und soziales Funktionsniveau bei bipolaren Störungen

Irén Lehner-Adam investigates in an empirical study whether and how emotional intelligence is related to the characteristics of bipolar patients. To this end, the level of emotional intelligence in patients with manic-depressive disorder was compared with that of healthy control subjects. This study also examines whether the current affective state of the currently stable patient group influences emotional intelligence and social functioning levels. Patients with bipolar disorder are affected by the loss of qualitative social relationships and by a lack of ability to process emotions. They experience this limitation in social connections as particularly burdensome. As a result, discrimination occurs, for example, in the workplace, within the healthcare system, or when searching for suitable housing options.
