Emile oder Über die Erziehung

Without "Emile," there is no pedagogy: Rousseau's groundbreaking novel from 1762 early advocated for childhood as a value in itself, for direct, experience-based learning through objects, and for a natural religion not tied to churches. Back to nature – away from civilization, that is the motto: "Everything that comes from the hands of the Creator is good; everything degenerates in the hands of man." The established standard translation is here newly commented on and published with a new afterword.
