Emergency care

For many years, there have been efforts to professionalize emergency care through further education. The necessity for the professional qualification of nurses in emergency departments is also recognized and demanded in the G-BA resolution for a tiered system of emergency structures in hospitals. Currently, there are further education curricula from the federal states of Berlin and Bremen, as well as from the German Society for Interdisciplinary Emergency and Acute Medicine (DGINA), along with a recommendation for emergency care training from the German Hospital Federation (DKG). Despite the existing recommendations, the detailed content design of the training is challenging for the educational institutions. There is a lack of uniform framework curricula with consistent focuses and content. This book provides a toolkit for all those involved in the curricular development of emergency nursing concepts, offering a detailed proposal for the design of a binding curriculum with comprehensive content descriptions for all learning objectives and numerous practical examples for examination processes. The authors are experts in emergency nursing and developers of the curricula for DGINA and the federal state of Berlin. They support federal states and nursing chambers in the development of state-specific advanced training in emergency nursing and represent the interests of emergency nursing in relevant professional societies as well as national and international committees.
