By Jiao Guorui, edited and published by Manfred Geißler, Gisela Hildenbrand, Christa Zumfelde-Hüneburg Named after Emeishan, the mountain of beautifully curved eyebrows in southwest China, the Emei method from Jiao Guorui's Qigong Yangsheng teaching system combines numerous elements from healing, Confucianism, Daoism and Buddhism. It is a multi-layered Qigong method with roots in the great spiritual currents of China. In their outward appearance, the Emei exercises combine powerful postures with subtle movements, whereby fine, meandering movements play a major role. The movements and postures reveal a close relationship to acupuncture points and concepts of Chinese medicine and serve to nurture life (Yangsheng). Symbolic postures such as 'standing between heaven and earth' or circular movements such as 'turning the taji' also characterise the spiritual roots of this exercise method. The book is designed as an exercise book. Detailed and precise descriptions of the individual exercises are complemented by rich visual material. Teachings and poems show the Emei exercises in their cultural context and serve to inspire and deepen the practice.
