The book is aimed at students of mathematics in teacher training courses at all school levels and in polyvalent Bachelor's degree courses. It covers the basics of arithmetic, elementary number theory and algebra as well as interesting specialisations in these areas. The present 6th edition has been completely revised and the introductory chapters on arithmetic and algebra have been supplemented by numerous comments and explanations on mathematical procedures, proof techniques and notations. This makes the transition to university mathematics even easier for first-year students. The topic of complete induction has been added to the content, and the topic of continued fractions has been extensively expanded. In about 400 tasks the presented material can be practiced, deepened and continued. Short solutions are available for all tasks.
