This textbook conveys the necessary knowledge about operating principles, characteristic values, characteristic curves, and equivalent circuits, and explains them clearly and understandably using the example of simulating MicroCap models of the following components:

• Basic components: resistor, capacitor, inductor, transformer
• Homogeneous semiconductors and semiconductor diodes
• Unipolar and bipolar transistors, thyristors
• Components of optoelectronics
• Operational amplifiers.

The practical application of each component is described using typical basic circuits. In addition to explaining the fundamental operating principles, the focus is on sizing and functional testing with a MicroCap simulation.

This specialized book is suitable as a textbook for training in technical fields at universities of applied sciences and technical universities. Numerous teaching and simulation examples promote the deepening and consolidation of the material in exercises and self-study.

In the second edition, all PSpice examples in the book have been converted to MicroCap. The materials accompanying the textbook provide readers with additional resources for self-study in the form of approximately 170 completed simulation projects with MicroCap and about 60 completed simulation projects with LTspice.
