Product details

The ET 11 01 - 03 were, alongside the two Zossener test cars, the only German electric high-speed trains until the Second World War. The vehicles were delivered until 1937 and initially approved for a speed of only 120 km/h. Due to the war, further testing was no longer possible, and replacement bogies were only acquired after 1945. After the war, they were used, among other things, in service for the US military between Munich and Berchtesgaden, between Munich and Villach, and between Munich and Stuttgart. In 1967, two trains were scrapped. ET 11 01 operated until 1971 as a measurement train at the Munich testing facility. Today, the train is with the DGEG. Heinz Kurz provides a detailed account of the development and construction, the considerations and measures taken to improve running characteristics, the modifications after the war, and the operations leading up to its retirement. The ET 11 series further completes the history of the high-speed trains of the German Reichsbahn.
