Product details

The prominent ophthalmologist Karl Gustav Himly (1772 - 1837) was appointed professor of the medical-surgical clinic in Braunschweig at the age of just 23. In 1802, he moved to Jena as the successor to Hufeland, but he only stayed for a year before continuing his career in Göttingen. Himly was the first doctor in Germany to provide practical and theoretical instruction in ophthalmology. He is credited with several ophthalmic instruments as well as the mydriatic agent used to dilate pupils.
