This textbook introduces the fundamentals and current topics of usage-based cognitive linguistics. It covers models, concepts, and theories of cognitive semantics as well as grammar models such as cognitive grammar and construction grammars. Recent developments, including cognitive-linguistic research on multimodality, cognitive poetics, and the application of cognitive-linguistic insights in language teaching, are also presented. Each chapter includes numerous German-language example analyses, exercises, and further literature references.
